White Widow Strain

White Widow is a classic Amsterdam strain, bred by Greenhouse in the 1990s. It won the High Times Cannabis Cup and Bio Cup in 1995. This hybrid has a 30% sativa and 70% indica split, with THC levels up to 20%. Known for high yields, it remains a popular strain for indoor cultivation.

White Widow, created in Amsterdam, is a cross between Brazilian and Southern Indian landrace strains. Developed by Greenhouse Seeds in the mid-1990s, it gained popularity for its trichome-covered buds. Despite being an older strain, it won Cannabis Cups due to its strong genetics, appealing bud structure, and overall quality.

 

White Widow is a balanced hybrid, with a higher indica content (70%) compared to sativa (30%). It offers strong effects with a high THC content, making it suitable for both relaxing and energizing experiences. Ideal for first-time smokers or those seeking a mellow high.

To germinate White Widow cannabis seeds, place them between a wet paper towel, ensuring they are in the middle. Keep the towel in a Ziploc bag or loosely covered to retain moisture and airflow. This method promotes fast germination.

For planting, use a 5-gallon fabric pot, ideal for autoflowers. Create a small hole about 2.5 inches deep, and fill it with plain Pro-Mix HP soil, which is nutrient-light and prevents seedling burn. Ensure the taproot faces downward and plant the seeds 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep, as deeper planting can reduce germination success.

Flowering Time:
White Widow flowers in about 9 weeks, depending on the phenotype. Indoors, it typically takes around 8 weeks, while outdoor growers can harvest by late October.

Height:
White Widow plants usually reach up to 110 cm in height, making them suitable for various growers. Their bushy structure also makes them ideal for the Screen of Green (SCROG) technique.

Yield:
Indoors, White Widow yields over 500 grams per square meter. Outdoors, expect up to 170 grams per plant, making it an excellent choice for growers seeking substantial harvests.

White Widow THC Level:
White Widow has a high THC content, with its trichomes acting as a natural protection mechanism. A dark period of 24-48 hours before harvest can enhance THC production, as it helps preserve trichomes from degradation during daylight.

White Widow Effects:
White Widow offers uplifting, cerebral effects, making it ideal for daytime use. It’s effective for alleviating anxiety and depression but may not be suitable for beginners due to its high THC content.
